From the fixed assets overview menu, select Assets.
Using the View drop-down box in the upper left corner of your screen, select Assets Waiting to be Placed into Service.
Click into the cost by choosing the asset number. The number will start with "WTBC."
Instead of placing it into service, select the Move to Construction Project button on the far right.
Select the applicable project from the Construction in Progress drop-down and give the transfer entry a date. This is the date the journal entry (Debit CIP, Credit Fixed Asset Clearing) will hit the GL. (If you have not previously created your Construction Projects, you will have to do this first as detailed here.)
Click Yes to save the transfer.
The screen will reload and take you to the construction project screen. You can navigate to the Cost Components tab to see that the cost on the AP Bill or Vendor Invoice did in fact end up in the CIP project.
