A multi-entity shared structure is for managing multiple companies or business units with a shared chart of accounts and similar accounting needs. For companies that can't share master lists, a multi-entity distributed company doesn't have shared data lists, such as the chart of accounts and each entity has its own set of master data lists.

If multi-entity shared, transact/create assets at top level or at the entity level? *

This is an important decision. Once setup is complete, this decision cannot be undone without a re-implementation. Here are some important points that will help you decide:

- If you create assets at the top level, you will be able to transfer assets across entities and you will only run depreciation one time per month for all entities. If you create assets at the entity level, you will run depreciation separately for each entity and you will not be able to transfer assets across entities.

- If you have multiple base currencies, you must create assets at the entity level

- If your accounts payable bills (or purchasing vendor invoices) are created at the top level, your assets must also be created at the top level. If your accounts payable bills (or purchasing vendor invoices) are created at the entity level, your assets must also be created at the entity level.

List any User Defined Dimensions (UDDs) that will be required on any fixed asset, including depreciation expense. *

The user-defined dimension becomes an available field when you create new prepaid expense schedules. It is included in any journal entries created according to the prepaid expense schedule, effectively tagging the journal entries like any other dimension for more robust reporting.

List exact name(s) of vendor invoice or purchasing transaction definitions. *

A transaction definition contains the accounting rules, workflow settings, security settings, and other characteristics for a transaction. If your company has enabled advanced workflows, you can add new transaction definitions or edit existing ones.
