This section explains how to dispose of an asset other than by sale via the AR module.
For example, if a building burnt down, you would need to take it off the books, but there is no associated sale transaction. Unless the asset is fully depreciated, you will need the system to book a related journal entry to fully account for the disposal.
Navigate to the fixed asset listing and choose the asset you want to dispose of by clicking on the asset number.
Choose the Dispose Full or Partial button in the upper right corner of the screen.
Give the disposition a date, and select Other disposition type from the drop-down menu.
Enter the amount of the disposal (percentage) if different from 100% and any comments you would like associated with the disposal.
You will want to check the Book Disposal GL Entry in order to have AssetEdge record the disposal on the GL. The default disposition account is given based on the class the asset is in.
Click the Yes button to save the disposal.
A new screen will load with the disposed asset information. There is also a new tab called Disposal Details that outlines the nature of the disposal and includes a link to the disposition entry that was booked.
In the fixed asset listing, you can see a list of your disposed assets by changing to the "All Disposed Assets by Class" view.
